Measure A is a ballot measure that asks South Pasadena voters to approve a modest 0.75% increase in the sales tax to help balance the city’s budget.

The City is facing rising expenses due to public employee pensions, rising labor costs and skyrocketing construction material costs. Existing revenue sources (property taxes and UUT) are either stagnant or decreasing.

This means a shortfall of approximately $1 million increasing to $2 million dollars annually over the next 5 years. Measure A will raise approximately $1,500,000 a year which will go a long way towards meeting this shortfall.

  • Vote YES on Measure A to maintain important city infrastructure and services that promote South Pasadena's quality of life and safeguard our community.

  • Vote YES on Measure A to protect high-quality paramedic, fire, police, library, senior and youth services and our city’s ability to maintain our roads, sidewalks, storm drains, and parks.

  • If approved, Measure A will create a modest 0.75% increase in the sales tax to fund the services and facilities we all care about.

  • Measure A funds go directly to the General Fund of the City of South Pasadena—this money can only be used by South Pasadena and cannot be taken by any other entity.

  • Measure A will generate approximately $1.5 million in additional funds annually.

  • Twenty-seven cities in Los Angeles County, including Pasadena, Arcadia, Burbank and Glendale, have already approved similar measures, and at least four more are set to vote in upcoming elections.

  • South Pasadena residents know that when we call 911, help will arrive fast. We enjoy well-maintained parks, and our library, recreational facilities and Senior Center offer enriching gathering places for residents of all ages.
